Many cats prefer running water because, in nature, standing water is often stagnant and unsafe. A water fountain can encourage drinking by keeping the water fresh and oxygenated.
Location Matters
Don’t place the water bowl next to the food bowl. In the wild, cats kill prey away from their water sources to avoid contamination. Try placing water bowls in different, quiet locations around the house.
